Crafting a Burst of
Brightly Glowing script.
The headline:"NEWS FLASH! Dead Father Rescues Babies From Car Wreck..."
Is from a moving, spine chilling poem written by an unknown poet published some years ago. I have used it to illustrate the power of word "pictures" or to say it in another way, crafting a mental picture using a burst of brightly glowing script against a vast sea of gray online content.
We generally accept the things we can’t
control, but often neglect the incredible opportunity to use that dormant energy toward changing the things we can. You have no
say over traffic visiting your content, your boss’s mood, or the economy, so don’t let them control
your happiness.
This idea is frequently
suggested:”Make a list of the uncontrollable things in your life, and post it
on your fridge or computer”. Then when those troubles arise, focus on reacting
to them with patience and levelheadedness. Wow!
Another seriously repeated
quote is this one:”Self-assess the changes you can make, and accept the things
you can’t control.” Now use that energy toward changing the things you can.
You have no say over traffic,
your boss’s mood, or the economy, so don’t let them control your own happiness.
Now make a list of the
uncontrollable things in your life, and post it on your fridge or computer.
Then when those troubles arise, go to your list, read it and focus on reacting
to them with patience and levelheadedness.
If you find yourself in a tight
place, write about what you would have done differently in a journal entry. For
example, you got reprimanded at work; don’t beat yourself up for it, but very
briefly acknowledge that it’s not necessarily because of bad luck or a mean
boss.
Ask yourself what went wrong,
and whether keeping better track of deadlines or researching more thoroughly
could prevent a similar future mistake. If you’re feeling down about things
that have gone wrong, actively make something else right.
Commit to exercising four days
a week, pay bills you’ve been putting off, or call your parents like you’ve
been meaning to.
When you feel like your life is
getting out of control, a bit of clutter can make things feel even more
overwhelming. Clean out a drawer or closet to regain your sense of control.
Here's what highly organized
people do every morning. Take time to lie down, drink a cup of good cheer, or
listen to soothing music before you try to tackle the next tough problem.
Freeing yourself of negative emotions is the first step to controlling an
outside issue with a level head.
Start with these drug-free ways
to stop anxiety. There’s a lot you can’t control in life, but you can control
how you spend your time. Pick up a new hobby, and channel your energy into an
enjoyable pastime like knitting or hiking.
Here are the best ways I have
tried to maximize my free time so I really enjoy it. My greatest desire is to write
so vividly that readers fall instantly in love with my content. I am setting
this dream of mine in motion by switching on my laptop as the vehicle and
saying this affirmation:”I’ve been given another day, to write another article
about leadership.
My subconscious mind subtly reminds
me that surely everything’s been written about leadership already? I deftly
counter the thought by checking my Facebook inbox and answering a few posts.
If after this, I still don’t
feel like writing right now? That’s okay, I then consciously remedy it by doing
this one thing: I Google the word leadership.”Right at the top of the page, on
the left side, I see the monthly search results for the word "leadership”.
There are 504 million posts. Ugh! But still, I just know, I can inspire, help, and
encourage someone somewhere. I open the first post in the organic search below,
called: www.mindtools.com in it I read about
the qualities of a political leader:”A political leader, pursuing a passionate,
personal cause is like an explorer, cutting a path through the jungle for the
rest of his group to follow.
An executive, develops the company's
strategy to beat the competition.
Real leaders help themselves
and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring
vision, and create something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you
need to go to "win" as a team or an organization; and it is dynamic,
exciting, and inspiring.
Yet, while leaders set the
direction, they must also use management skills to guide their people in a
smooth and efficient way, to the right destination.
This model highlights visionary
thinking and bringing about change, instead of management processes that are
designed to maintain and steadily improve current performance.
Note: While you sip your cup of
“pick me up,” Perhaps page through a notebook with article ideas when nothing
feels right and everything feels colorless.
If you find something to write
about, refuse to write a mediocre article. Don’t be tempted to dump a pile of
limp sentences strung together. From this day on, you will only write with power,
passion and pizzazz.
You will shake your readers to the
core, electrify them with your words, and kick start them to grab hold of their
world and change it. If writers can’t instigate change, why write?
Why write if people only skim
your sub-headlines before hastily clicking away? Choose those striking words
that can make readers not only remember but also love your ideas? The next
piece of content will be a meticulously crafted burst of brightly glowing
flames, brightly etched against a drab sea of grey content. In this distorted world,
filled to the brim with content, inspiring readers with your new message is
feeling like a mission impossible. But when you learn to harness the power of
visual language and when you apply your mind to sketching vibrant images using
only words, your message will instantly explode into life. Your message will
stand out like that burst of brightly glowing flames against a sea of grey
content. It will be striking, proud and vibrant and it will be memorable.
